Thom Goolsby
Thom Goolsby, President, MBA, JD
Thom is a family man, respected attorney, NC State Senator, and former Marine Corps officer.
He is the practicing Partner at the Goolsby Law Firm in Wilmington and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Campbell University. In addition, Goolsby has been a well-recognized personality on radio and television for many years, providing policy commentary and legal assistance to area residents. He is a graduate of The Citadel, where he served as Regimental Commander of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. He holds an MBA from Golden Gate University and a law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Goolsby resides with his wife, Rachael, son, Fleming, and daughters, Lily and Alabama, in downtown Wilmington. The Goolsbys attend Port City Community Church.

James Upham
James Upham, Chief Investment Strategist
Upham is a respected Financial Advisor in North Carolina and has recently been appointed to the North Carolina Economic Investment Committee. He is co-founder and owner of Empowered Investor, Inc. and also serves as an adjunct Business and Finance professor at Cape Fear Community College. Like Thom, James has been widely recognized as both a radio and television personality, which helps him to assist a great deal of people and businesses with their financial and investment needs.
James graduated from Taylor University, and returned there a few years later to receive his MBA. He previously owned and operated his own business in Wilmington for many years until he sold it to a national firm in order to pursue full-time market trading and investing.
James resides in Wilmington, NC with his wife Melissa and his daughter, Vyolet. Melissa is a local jewelry artist and owner of Melissa Tyson Designs (www.melissatysondesigns.com). They both are active in the community and are board members of The Story Collective, a non-profit organization that promotes awareness and takes action against human trafficking.

Jeff Berry, ETF Specialist
Jeff Berry II, a native North Carolinian, is an experienced Financial Advisor and a recognized expert in ETF driven Portfolio Strategies and Option Spread Trading. His varied experience across the field of finance has given him a uniquely broad understanding of markets. His extensive work in the field of market volatility provide has provided Empowered Investor, Inc. with invaluable insight into the development of it’s Engineered Portfolio Strategies.
Jeff’s duty in the US Army Reserve helped him develop the discipline and work ethic necessary to successfully navigate today’s volatile financial markets.
He graduated with honors from UNC-Wilmington and completed his Master’s level coursework from the University of Montana.
Jeff is married and the proud father of two beautiful children.
